Quite the traveler
April 1-5 was our spring break and we put 2000 miles on the van during our trip. We traveled to Atlanta and spent the night with Melody, Steven, Ryleigh, and McKenna before heading up to Huntington. We enjoyed our time with Don and Ruth, Mike and Alicia, and Mark, Tricia, Josiah, Hannah, and Seth.
I thoroughly enjoyed our trip over to the Creation Museum near Cincinnati, OH, and really enjoyed how professional and detailed this Christian museum was. I highly recommend any trip to the museum. It is definitely a must-see for all Christians and definitely a must-see for any non-believers.
We spent the day in Charleston, WV, with Mark on Thursday of our break so we could walk around downtown, eat lunch with him, and walk around the mall. It was nice to hang out and talk with him.
The trip back was uneventful and we stayed with Mel and her family again and went to church with them on Sunday before finally heading back home. It was a great trip.
Can't believe that it will soon be time for the Patton family vacation in Gatlinburg!

Getting the kids to blog
So I have been getting my students more involved in technology in the last week. They have surprisingly been pushing back or not interested in working with technology. A few have taken to blogging and working with edmodo; but the vast majority don't seem interested.
I'm hoping I can get them accustomed to writing and offering feedback wherever possible. If I can get them to produce some work and get comments, even better.
I'm going to do my best to get back into blogging...might even create a second blog just for school related purposes, just to see what they say about mine. Idk.
The fourth nine weeks is underway and I can't believe graduation is just two months away from today (March 25). Hard to believe I've been at WCHS for nearly a year. It was great to see old friends this past weekend at SkillsUSA State Competition in Atlanta. Lots of fun, too, to see my current students competing and learning stuff.
Kids growing fast, enjoying time with my honey, enjoying great music at church with the Old Paths on 3/17. Life is good. God is blessing.
Now, if only I could get more the kiddies to blog...and to like it.

Happy Valentine's Day!
I thoroughly enjoyed Valentine's Day this year. It was nice to show off the love relationship that Missy and I have. Our students thought it was neat that we sent each other valentine's and special gifts throughout the day. I'm glad we can be an example that couples can be in a committed, happy relationship. :-)
Hope yours was just as nice.

New year, new opportunities
Well, here is my first post of the new year. 2013. Time is flying by now, with two children, a wife of almost four years, and getting the hang of our jobs (six months into them).
Song leading at FBC Doerun has been great. The people have been so kind and complimentary since I took over leading the congregational singing in Oct. 2012 and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The folks rotate different piano and organ players every few months, so that has taken some getting used to.
Zachary turned four months old on Jan. 11 and he continues to amaze us every day. Audrey is so grown up now; she'll be three in July and she is going to be SO much smarter than her mom and me. She knows her alphabet, counts to 10, and is almost potty trained. She is amazing!
Missy is hanging in there and working hard at teaching English. She begins the TAPP program this month (alternate certification to be state certified in Georgia) in addition to teaching English and grading all those papers. She should be done with the classes/program by December. We keep reminding ourselves: at least she didn't have to go get another Master's degree...more cost, more work, etc.
I am enjoying myself and my classes; lots going on with five preps during the day, but I'm getting more organized by the day. I'm already starting to make plans for the 2013-14 school year for pictures and yearbook stuff so I'm excited that I will get to make those plans/preparations.
I'm trying to generate a lot of interest in broadcast and journalism for next year so that I can attract some quality people. Hopefully, we can continue to make some changes and build more interest in our products.
I'm not a fundraiser person. I've never liked selling things or begging for money...but I'm getting there. Yearbook needs an influx of cash and we've got to get on it. We're still trying to climb out of that $10,000 hole we find ourselves in. I'm hoping to make a dent in it this year and keep getting better for next year. We'll see.
God continues to bless and guide, even when the noise of this life gets so loud and overwhelming. Slowing down, taking time to focus is definitely needed/wanted and is the best way to keep that relationship closer. Pray that we'll continue to be wise and make decisions that keep us in His will. We're hoping to build a house soon; just have to see what it will cost...and make sure we can afford it! :-)
